...this time in a private jet. Hopefully the co-pilot (and more sophisticated instruments than he likely has in the Aviat) will keep him on a proper flight path.
If you’re in the OC keep an eye out (or up)!

To be fair, I read some comments by pilots who said John Wayne can be a confusing airport. And there have been commercial airliners that have landed on a taxiway. Still, the final responsibility for safety lies with the pilot.

Agreed. I posted this pic and comments on the original FP post.

Still, that big 20L should have been a solid clue as to where he was supposed to put her down.

Yeah, not an excuse at all. But many of the posts were assuming he landed on the apron taxiway to the left, which I don’t think was the case.
If it was the apron, then chain that man to the ground!

At least he isn’t building his own planes like drunk ass John Denver!

Yeah my dad is a pilot and I have flown with him, doesn’t seem confusing to me, big Vs and the 20L, it’s wider and further from the airport. Doesn’t look at all the same to me.

True. But flying around in a 75 year old WWII trainer didn’t work out for him to well two years ago.
I prefer my older vehicles on the ground. And if I had an old XK140 like he does, I’d drive that instead.

I’m guessing that 737 was holding short for his landing. You think that would have been a pretty big, white clue too. The FAA doesn’t appreciate it when you land over top of another airplane.
